Winners of the 2024 Award Program For High Schools Experienced Summer High School at Sabancı University

The winners of the 2024 Award Program for High Schools participated in the Sabancı University Summer High School as part of their award. In the third term of the Summer High School, which took place in August 2025, students both took courses in various fields and had the opportunity to experience university life on campus for two weeks.

Among the participants were Akın Atabulu and Derin Yandaş from İzmir Özel Eraslan Anatolian High School; Leyla Akça, Ayşe Yaylacı, and Dilara Özen from Ankara Eskişehir Yolu Sınav College Science High School; Rana Kılıç, İrem Altay, and Helin Turgut from Batman Anatolian High School; and Alp Özpamir from İzmir American Collegiate Institute.

As young individuals with a strong sense of social responsibility, aiming to take an active role in social change, the students also visited the Civic Involvement Projects Office and shared their experiences.

The students expressed their experiences as follows:

“Being on Sabancı University’s campus really gave me an amazing university experience, and I truly understood what university is here. Taking university-level courses was a very nice and instructive experience for us.” (Helin Turgut, Batman Anatolian High School)

“First of all, I had a lot of fun at the Summer High School and gained a tremendous experience. Being able to see what university is like while still in high school and having this experience was very meaningful to me.” (İrem Altay, Batman Anatolian High School)

“Being a university student is a wonderful feeling, and it’s something I’ll look forward to with excitement.” (Derin Yandaş, İzmir Özel Eraslan Anatolian High School)

“The Summer High School was a great experience. I had the chance to see the university course schedules and campus. For two weeks, I experienced how a university student lives.” (Alp Özpamir, İzmir American Collegiate Institute)

In addition, Alp Özpamir, who won the 2024 Technology and Innovation Award with his 6-dot brick project, gifted logos of the Award Program made out of Legos to the Civic Involvement Projects Office. We sincerely thank Alp Özpamir for his creativity, effort, and meaningful gifts.

The Award Program for High Schools aims to increase high school students’ sensitivity toward social responsibility, support innovative projects, and empower young individuals as pioneers of social change. Winners of this year’s second edition of the program will be announced on December 5th, International Volunteer Day. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Sabancı University  Summer High School for their contributions to the Award Program.
